This is another awkward book review of – yes, one of my own books. But – This book is now my top selling book on Amazon outpacing any of my other books 5 to 1.
The popularity of this book comes primarily from the point of view I took when writing this book – For the new Baofeng Radio user and teaching what both the Baofeng manual leaves out, as well as the Ham Radio Tech course. The Tech course focuses on basic concepts of Ham radio and teaches nothing about actual radio use. The Baofeng radio happens to be the most popular ham radio for new Techs primarily due to the low radio price of about $30. This allows new hams to get on the air cheap communicating with other handheld radio users at short range (Usually under a mile) or communicating to other hams using local radio repeaters, usually 20 to 50 miles depending on the repeater and your location.
I also cover topics that are unique to the handheld radio such as attaching external and better antennas, programming the radio for repeater use, actual radio range, using radio Nets (Talking groups), finding clubs, radio accessories, using CHIRP, and much, much more.
